Myofascial Release: The Nuts and Bolts

Fascia is a fluid matrix of connective tissue that surrounds all of our muscles and organs. Restrictions can occur in this tissue that obstruct its natural flow, which can cause pain and negatively impact movement, posture, and alignment. Myofascial release is a gentle, hands-on approach in which the practitioner identifies these restrictions and then applies a gentle stretch directly on the body for several minutes until the restriction is released. It can help pain related to trauma, fibromyalgia, arthritis, headaches, TMJ, sciatica, spinal pain, scar tissue, and adhesions, among others. For more information about fascia and the MFR technique, see John Barnes’s website at https://www.myofascialrelease.com/about/

The Appointment: What to Expect

MFR is performed with the client sitting or lying on a massage table. As MFR is a hands-on approach, shorts and a loose tank top or sports bra are recommended. Appointments are approximately 45-50 minutes long. The cost is $65 per visit, to be paid by cash, check, or Venmo at the visit. Contact Lindsay directly to schedule, at 979.933.9828 or lindsay@brazosemerge.com.
