Leadership for student groups

Strong teams are built by students who understand that leadership is not limited to a title or position—it is a shared responsibility. The Brazos Emerge School & Group Teen Leadership Program provides students with an interactive, arts-based leadership experience designed to strengthen communication, collaboration, confidence, and team culture. Through hands-on activities, discussion, reflection, and real-world leadership challenges, students learn how their individual leadership styles and choices impact the people around them. The program moves beyond simply teaching leadership skills by giving students the opportunity to put those skills into practice through a student-led community service project. Working together to identify a need, develop a plan, and carry out a meaningful project allows students to experience leadership as a process of listening, problem-solving, collaboration, and service. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a Brazos Emerge Leadership Certificate, recognizing their commitment to leadership, teamwork, service, and personal growth.

• Building Strong Team Cultures: Students explore what makes a healthy, successful team and examine how trust, communication, accountability, inclusion, and respect contribute to a positive team environment.
• Understanding Leadership: Students explore different leadership styles and learn how effective leaders adapt their approach to meet the needs of their team and situation.
• Communication & Conflict Resolution: Students develop practical strategies for communicating effectively, navigating disagreements, addressing difficult situations, and maintaining positive relationships within their team.
• Leadership in Action: Students have opportunities to practice leadership through collaborative activities and real-world challenges, allowing them to move from learning leadership concepts to experiencing them.
• Community Service Project: Working as a group, students identify a need within their school or community and develop and lead a service project. Students take responsibility for planning, communication, delegation, implementation, and reflection.
• Reflection & Personal Growth: Students reflect on their experiences as leaders and team members, considering what they learned, how they contributed, what challenged them, and how they can continue to grow.

Full Day Workshop ($500 for up to 10 students)

9-9:30am - Welcome and Introduction to Leadership

9:30-10:15am - Leadership Styles & the Right Approach for the Situation

10:15-10:30am BREAK

10:30-11:15am - Initiative and Maintaining Motivation

11:15-12:00pm - Effective Communication and Working as a Leadership Team

12:00-12:30pm - Art Project - Leadership Goals

12:30-1:00pm - Lunch break

1:00-1:45pm - Conflict Resolution Doesn't Have to be Scary or Bad

1:45-2:30pm - Encouraging Others to Improve Team Culture

2:30-3:30pm - Leadership Team Art Project and Closing Remarks

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS*

Training beyond an initial workshop - monthly zoom check-in and additional monthly leadership topics    - Includes 30-45 minutes a week for 10 weeks
