This professional development workshop is designed for dance educators who want to integrate dance science principles into their teaching to support dancer health, longevity, and performance. Participants will explore practical strategies for incorporating safe dance practices into daily classes and rehearsals while learning how anatomy and biomechanics influence movement.
Throughout the workshop, educators will examine effective warm-up and cool-down strategies that support a variety of body types and training levels. Additional topics include understanding knee function in plié, the role of pelvic placement in both upper and lower extremity movement, and how proper stretching approaches may differ for hypermobile and non-hypermobile dancers.
Participants will also learn how to safely prepare dancers for inversion work and explore the purpose and benefits of dancer screenings to identify movement patterns that may impact performance or injury risk. Educators will leave with practical tools, movement strategies, and a deeper understanding of how dance science can enhance both safety and technical development in the studio.
Ideal for studio owners, dance teachers, and educators who want to integrate dance science into their training practices.
